Hon. Justice Cordelia Enu Chukwurah

Honourable Justice Cordelia Enu Chukwurah is the Chairperson, Board of Trustees of Women Information Network (WINET). She is a retired Judge of the Customary Court of Appeal, Awka, Anambra State. She holds a Bachelor of Law degree (LL.B) Honours from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria and a Barrister-at Law (BL) from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos. Honourable Justice Cordelia Chukwurah was the President of Catholic Women Organization (CWO) at Omnium Sanctorum Catholic Chaplaincy, Thinker’s Corner, Enugu, Enugu State Nigeria from 2012 to April 2018. She was the Assistant Secretary International Federation of Women Lawyers, (FIDA) Anambra State and a member of Women in Law and Development in Africa (WILDAF). Hon. Justice Cordelia Chukwurah attended an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) course in London in 2016.

Mrs. Miriam Chinwe Menkiti is the Executive Director of Women Information Network (WINET) Enugu, Enugu State, Nigeria. She is a journalist, woman activist and gender trainer. She holds a Master of Science degree in Mass Communication from the National Open University of Nigeria (2014), Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication from University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1979) and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Nigeria (2000).

She has attended courses both within and outside Nigeria and has certificates of Achievement from the Austrian Study Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Burg Stadschlaining, Austria, where she successfully completed the Foundation and Specialization courses in Facilitation and Mediation in June 2000.

Miriam Menkiti was Chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Enugu State Chapter 1999 - 2001. During her tenure, she coordinated NAWOJ Enugu Democracy and Governance three-year project funded by Johns Hopkins University, Center for Communication Programs (JHU/CCP). The highpoint of her tenure was the initiation by NAWOJ Enugu in Enugu State House of Assembly the Prohibition of Infringement of A Widow’s and A Widower’s Fundamental Rights Law 2001 .

Miriam currently serves on the Board of White Ribbon Alliance Nigeria (WRAN) and is the Coordinator Transition Monitoring Group (TMG) Enugu State Chapter. She served on the Committee for Building Community Radio Initiative in Nigeria. In 2006, she was appointed a member of the Federal Ministry of Information and Communications Committee that drafted the Community Radio policy for Nigeria. She was a member of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TetFund) Technical Advisory Group (TAG) 2009-2015. She served as a researcher for the book Human Trafficking in Nigeria: Root Causes and Recommendations, UNESCO series Policy Paper No.14.2 (E).

Her published works include A Handbook on Democracy and Fundamental Human Rights for Youths (2016), Community Dialogue Guide for Girls and Women’s Sexual, Reproductive Health and Rights (2015), Legislative Advocacy: The Experience of NAWOJ Enugu State Chapter (2001) and Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Enugu State Chapter 1989-1999: History, Activities & Achievements (1999).

She is a member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors. She won the Best Journalist Award in Radio Nigeria Enugu in 1998 and the Nigeria Union of Journalists Enugu State Council Best Behaved Journalist for 2004.

She retired as a deputy Director and General Manager Radio Nigeria Purity FM Awka, Anambra State Nigeria in 2015.

Nn’emeka is the chairman & chief executive officer of C&F Porter Novelli, a trusted business advisor and leader in strategic communications in West Africa.

 Recognised as a leading Public Relations practitioner in the region, he is a past President of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria, and has served on the boards of a number of international public relations bodies such as the International Public Relations Association, and the International Communications Consultancy Oganisation.

 Nn’emeka has close to three decades of experience in strategic communications planning, corporate positioning and reputation management for a wide range of brands and issues, as well as extensive practice in issues and crisis management and litigation communications.

Prior to co-founding C&F Porter Novelli, he was a senior functionary of the Nigerian Government’s privatisation agency: Technical Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation, later Bureau of Public Enterprises, where he established and managed the Corporate Communications & Marketing functions for many years.

Nn’emeka began his career in public relations at Union Securities Limited an investment holding company with significant equity interests in ventures covering various sectors of the economy.  Before embarking on a career in Public Relations, Nn’emeka worked for the Nigerian Television Authority Network News (NTA News) as a reporter, producer and anchor person. He was the first Business Correspondent of the Network.

He was also for a number of years a broadcast journalist and worked for the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) News as reporter, talk show host, anchor person, producer, and documentary filmmaker.

Nn’emeka brings more than 25 years experience in strategic communications planning, positioning and reputation management for a wide variety of brands and issues. He has successfully led teams charged with implementing large scale public relations programs in Nigeria. He was instrumental in changing the way PR was perceived in Nigeria through the handling of the first GSM Company in the country by positioning the brand as an unrivalled market leader in the GSM industry between 2001 and 2007, turning it into the lead consumer product within Nigeria. He has successfully managed litigation and crisis issues for international and local brands and issues. Nn’emeka is recognized as a leading public relations practitioner in the region, and is the past President of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria.

Prior to becoming Chairman/CEO of C&F Porter Novelli, Nn’emeka was Director, Corporate Services, at the Bureau of Public Enterprises. In this regard, he was responsible amongst others for the development and management of communications for the Nigerian Government Privatisation Programme from 1989 to 1996.

Mrs Winifred I Nzegwu is a Lawyer, Human rights activist and retired permanent secretary in the Anambra State Civil Service. She is also the secretary to the Board of Trustees of Women Information Network (WINET) and coordinates project activities in the organisation. She holds a Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB Hons) from the University of Nigeria  Nsukka (1983) and enrolled as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. (1984).

Before her retirement from the Anambra State Civil Service in June 2012, she held key positions which include the Administrator General / Public Trustee of the state. She was also a one time  Solicitor General / Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice Awka. She was a member of the commitee that drafted the Land Policy for Anambra State. She is presently engaged in active legal practice.

Nkem Chineze Menkiti is a Human Resource Management practitioner who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.

She started her career in the development sector by working with the African Network for Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) as a Child rights advocate. During her during her National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) programme, she worked as a Hotline Counsellor with the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), Abuja where she interviewed and counseled numerous clients on HIV/AIDS as well as sexual/reproductive health matters

She went on to work with Women’s Right to Education Programme and IANSA Women Network Nigeria as the lead Programme officer.  In that capacity, she served as a catalyst for new ideas, approaches and management techniques in the programmes department.

She currently serves as the National Secretary of Nigerian Association of University Women, an affiliate of Graduate Women International, which is a leading international network of university women promoting lifelong education for women and girls worldwide.
